Dispensational Teaching of the Kingdom
Studying the Bible and the dispensations is a research of the governing rules and how the administrations operated in historical times and how do they relate today.
Dispensational teaching gives a proper perspective of God’s administrative working. A dispensation gives the guiding truths of the historical workings of God which have been confusing when trying to understand the Bible. Most would like to understand why they exist, what they are here for, how one does understands what God wants of them and finally what will happen when life is over with the events leading up to that end. Dispensational teaching gives a clear biblical understanding of these questions. When dispensational teaching is applied correctly to God’s revealed Word, security, unity and hope can be achieved and applied in daily living. Understanding the Biblical dispensation a person became stable, not being tossed by every religion in the world today.
Applying dispensational teaching to the Word of God gives the understanding of the original teaching of the Holy Spirit’s revealed meaning. The words dispensation, economy, administration, or stewardship is the best one word descriptions of the original Greek word. The Greek word for dispensation is a compound Biblical word meaning “household rules which are dispensed” [i] .The word occurs some twenty-one times in the Bible [ii] and is translated dispensation, administration, fellowship or the Greek word is paraphrased by the translator emphasizing the context where the word is found [iii].
The truths of each dispensation are important for the understanding of God’s total work in creation and in the understanding in the progression in the history of the world. In dispensational teaching there are seven guiding principles which will be found in the seven dispensations. Also, time does not govern a dispensation but the longsuffering and patience of God does. The length of a dispensation (or administration) is not based on time but God’s redemptive offering extended to man and man’s failure.
Dispensational teaching will have the following 7 Biblical dispensations:
1. Dispensation of Innocence
2. Dispensation of Conscience
3. Dispensation of Human Government
4. Dispensation of Promise
5. Dispensation of Grace of Equality
6. Dispensation of Kingdom
7. Dispensation of the Fullness of Time
The following 7 guiding principles are to be applied in dispensational teaching:
1. Each dispensation has a beginning with governing rules and principles
2. Universal Principle which Transcend all dispensations
3. Rule Which Change from One dispensation to another
4. The Institution chosen and responsible to carry out God’s dispensation
5. The Sin of the dispensation which brings the final judgment of God on the dispensation
6. The Judgment and consequence on the world
7. The Transition from one dispensation to the next dispensation
Last of all; ‘Dispensations are not covenants and covenants are not a dispensation.’ The 7 dispensations are not treated as the same; they are distinct and are not to be mixed. Studying dispensations is not a movement but a discipline of putting God’s administrations in their correct order and not mixing them.
It would be helpful for understanding the Bible is not assembled reflecting the dispensations but assembled by a theme. It would be helpful for you to consider the scriptures corresponding to the dispensation.
Dispensational teaching will enlighten the understanding and will give security and hope which will be eternal!
